About
What this is
probative.io exists to make financial crime and its regulation — across the UK, EU and Switzerland — comprehensible, navigable, and actionable. Everything on this site has to pass one test: does it make it easier to understand, investigate, or prevent financial crime?
Why this exists
probative.io began with a re-entry. Coming back to the field after time away, I found catching up nearly impossible: information was slow, stale, or simply missing — and when it existed, there was no way to tell whether the world had already moved on. For a consultant that is fatal. I did not need a good answer; I needed to know how to think about the elements — to rebut in real time, at every level of pushback, and to find another door when the obvious one was blocked. So I built the place I needed.
One place, with less noise, focused on the regions I actually work in — Europe in the geographic sense, not just the EU — where everything carries its source and its date, so it can be checked, cited and relied on. Built in Europe, for the European ecosystem, for 2027 and beyond.
Who it is for
The people who carry decisions: the desk, senior managers and decision-makers in fintech — crypto and traditional finance alike — and the in-house counsel and senior officers who advise them. The aim is the same at every level: decisions with as few unforced errors as possible.
And because there is no one-for-one reading of a European rule across member states — the same MiCA text lands differently in Valletta, Vienna and Vilnius — the work stays local where it must: national machinery, local players, and the practical question of which door is actually open. Where the difference matters, the site says so instead of smoothing it over.
What we sell
Two things. A consultation — a fixed-length session on a specific question. And fixed-fee written work — research, reviews, and investigations delivered as a document you can act on, priced in writing before any payment. Figures are on the pricing page.
Around the paid work sits the free layer — the dossiers, the Atlas, the resource library. It is deliberately useful on its own, not a teaser. The membership tiers sketched on the pricing page are a possible future direction, marked as such — today, everything published here is free.
How payment works
The first conversation is free. If there is work to do, the scope and fee are agreed in a one-page letter before anything starts. You are invoiced — PDF by email, or by post if you prefer — and pay by bank transfer within 14 days. Nothing is charged through the website. And if you are not satisfied, there is a 30-day money-back guarantee.
What binds the work
- Independence. No sponsored content, no paid placements, no editorial direction from anyone. The analysis serves the reader.
- Accuracy. Every factual claim sourced; legal references cited to primary authority; errors corrected publicly and promptly.
- Privacy. Minimum data, no tracking, Swiss infrastructure. Your material is returned or deleted when the work is done — only the work product is retained.
- Limits, stated plainly. probative.io is a research and investigations practice, not a law firm, and does not provide legal advice.
The first conversation is free.
